Chasing the Dot

Chasing the Dot is the first solo museum exhibition by artist Philip Vermeulen, shown at Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede. Six dedicated rooms, each with its own work, including two pieces newly developed for the show. TEAL managed the year-long development and the two-week on-site build.
Rijksmuseum Twenthe hosted the very first solo museum exhibition of the emerging artist Philip Vermeulen. Titled Philip Vermeulen. Chasing The Dot, the show featured no fewer than six of his intriguing works, each displayed in its own dedicated room. Additionally, two brand-new pieces were specially created for this exhibition.

Philip Vermeulen's first solo exhibition was too large for his studio to develop alone. TEAL stepped in a year before the opening, working directly with Philip and his team in his studio. We started with the floor plan, mapping each work to the right room. Over the following months, artworks were moved between spaces as the exhibition took shape. Two entirely new works were developed during this period. On site at Rijksmuseum Twenthe, we managed a two-week build with a team of fifteen specialists. Long days, coordinating sound, light, rigging, and exhibition design across all six rooms. TEAL was the point of contact between the artist and the museum, managing the technical complexity so Philip could focus on the work itself. A solo exhibition of this scale was new territory for both the artist and the museum. Our role was to carry the development from studio to opening, and make the build run smoothly for everyone involved.
